The SCAN~LINK Armour System™ is able to differentiate between a person and an object using programmed, passive UHF RFID tags in the SCAN~LINK RFID safety apparel. The passive RFID tags are located 360 degrees around the worker discreetly embedded in the safety apparel, increasing the probability of detection. Multiple RFID tags are distributed within the SCAN~LINK RFID Armour safety apparel to improve the probability of detection. Using multiple tags means that detection of a worker becomes less dependent on their orientation as compared to a single tag style system. Personnel can be detected by the SCAN~LINK Armour System™ if they are wearing the SCAN~LINK Armour safety apparel and are within the detection range of the SCAN~LINK Sensor/Antenna unit. The ability of the SCAN~LINK Armour System™ to detect a tag will vary with tag orientation, movement, mounting surface, moisture content, line of sight and proximity to the human body.
 
Safety vests and hard hats are typically used for longer range 5 meter detection. The SCAN~LINK Armour System™ will only detect and read SCAN~LINK safety apparel and because of this the operator and worker will only be warned when a worker equipped with SCAN~LINK Armour apparel enters the detection zone and is detected. There are no “false alarms” with the Armour System.
